Tripoli Wins Big in Court

For those who have not heard this on the various mailing lists. Tripoli and NAR have prevailed in our efforts to remove unnecessary and illegal regulations from the sport rocketry hobby.

On February 10, 2006, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rendered its opinion as to whether the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) had properly classified APCP propellant as an explosive. The court found in favor of the National Association of Rocketry and Tripoli Rocketry Association and remanded the matter back to the agency.

Burt Rutan: Building The People's Spaceship

Interesting story about the ongoing efforts into SpaceShipTwo, Burt Rutan's commercial version of his space plane that will take tourists into space. He needs to double the size of Scaled Composites—now some 150 people—to be able to properly handle a roster of projects, including his commercial spaceliner activity.

Sound like something for us Tripoli folk to help out with?

The Master Blasters are HERE

[Updated 7/28/05]
Master Blasters, a new "reality" television series on The Sci-Fi Channel, Wednesdays at 8:00 CDT.

"A high-octane ride into the wild blue yonder, Master Blasters pits teams of amateur rocket scientists against each other in a race to design, build and launch some very bizarre things into the stratosphere. From rocket-bolstered La-Z-Boys to fuel-injected Mini Coopers, "one small step for man" becomes one giant leap for mad science! A healthy dose of teamwork, competition and creativity — mixed with jet fuel and a few end-runs around the laws of physics — make this television's most explosive weekly series."

Great Turnout at the La Crosse Airfest

We had a great turnout at the La Crosse Airfest, thanks to the folks at Tripoli Southern Minnesota who had a fantastic booth set up.

Homer (October Skies) Hickam and his Rocket Barbie

This was too good not to pass on... Maybe we can try her on a class M motor next launch. Barbie goes Level 3!

Clean-up day a Success

The Tripoli Minnesota Clean-up day was a great success. All the launch rods are now bright and shiny, the crossed wires on the high power pads are uncrossed, now Dave has no excuse for launching the wrong rocket. And the trailer will be sporting a new "wadding box" when it returns. THANK YOU ALL!

Looks like we're clear for lift-off.
