I-ROC Liftoff: 9-9-2006: Mike Snyder's LOC I-ROC on an I211Tripoli Minnesota is one of 2 Tripoli Rocketry Association prefectures (chapters) in the state of Minnesota. We exist to advance the hobby of Rocketry, low, mid and high power. Our goal is to promote the hobby and sport of Rocketry in a fun and safe manner.

To do this, we have several key objectives:

  1. To fly rockets and have fun,
  2. To mentor other rocketeers,
  3. To educate the general public and youth about rocketry,
  4. To self-regulate the participants in the hobby to keep it safe,
  5. To educate government agencies and elected officials.

To fly rockets and have fun.

Tripoli Minnesota has monthly get togethers. During the summer months (May-Nov) we meet at a an 80 acre sod field east of North Branch Minnesota, and fly rockets. We have a 6 pad low power launch rack, and 6 high power pads. We also have an away cell for big projects along with a complete hypertech ground support system capable of flying everything up to and including M's.

During winter months, we meet at various restaurants around the cities to socialize, share, brag, and even plan.

To mentor other rocketeers

powertools&avegansmallTeaching people the right way and the safe way to do things is one of our top priorities. Tripoli has a 3 tiered certification program that requires our members to demonstrate knowledge and skills needed for the various rocket sizes.

To educate the general public and youth about rocketry

Tripoli Minnesota has and will continue to participate in public displays and forums, as well as encouraging spectators at our launches. Tripoli members also help various groups, like The Cub Scouts and the University of Minnesota with rocketry projects.

To self-regulate the participants in the hobby to keep it safe

Following the Tripoli safety code, as well as the voluntary participation of rocketry merchants to limit the sale of rocket motors to qualified individuals help keep the sport safe.

To educate government agencies and elected officials

Tripoli Minnesota, through the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) and Tripoli Rocketry Association (TRA) is at the forefront of making sure rocketry can be enjoyed by not only ourselves but generations to come. Tripoli has worked with national, state, and local governments to limit unnecessary rules and regulations. Tripoli, along with NAR are currently in litigation with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to try and reduce the licensing requirements that high power rocketeers need to meet.
